Tremezzo, Lake Como Tremezzo is on the western bank of Lake Como, and offers a beautiful sight on Bellagio, the pearl of the Lake. Of Roman origin, Tremezzo, Lenno and Mezzegra were once gathered in one village called Tremezzina. Tremezzo has been a famous place of vacation in every time, and all over the world, thanks also to its mild climate favoured by the lake and by the chain of mountains that protect it from the cold. In this area there are many pompous villas and parks. Villa Carlotta: this villa is one of the most famous of the Lake, it rises on the western bank of the Lake at an altitude of 201 meters on the level of the sea, and it occupies a surface of 70.000 square meters. Once built as a country house, around 1690 from the marquis Giorgio Clerici, that decorated it with the magnificent ceilings of the second floor painted in Baroque style Lombardo and with the Italian garden, with the staircases, baluster, fountains and fall of the dwarves.

It can be an ideal starting point for beautiful walks and excursion routes, or for visiting the s sumptuous villas of the central lake area, better known as Tremezzina. Besides the most famous one, Villa Carlotta, that represents a perfect combination of a luxurious interior and a luxuriant exterior with over 500 species of plants and trees from all over the world, stand Villa La Quiete and Villa La Carlia, located on a hill featuring a lovely elegant staircase. The farmhouse is situated at only 700m away from the lake and from the town centre of Tremezzo, tourist resort situated on the western shore of the lake, in front of Bellagio and just a few kilometres away from Menaggio, overlooking the centre lake. It is characterized by its picturesque hamlets, first of all Rogaro with its narrow streets; where you can visit the Oratory of the B.V of Einsiedeln, a Baroque church which has a carved statue of the Black Madonna. Not far away from the old square are the ruins of a medieval tower that testimony the involvement of Tremezzo in the defence system to help the Isola Comacina. Mountain paths branch off from the hamlets of Rogaro and Brughée leading to the Nava, Monte Crocione and San Martino mountains on Griante. Thanks to the lovely panoramic views that you can enjoy from here, some scenes of the film Star wars were filmed here. This area is particularly visited by thousands of tourists every year. For those who like walking we recommend the “Greenway del Lago”, a wonderful walk along the lake discovering villas, gardens, Roman findings, quaint villages, restaurants, old Italian architecture, and expansive views. You can do the entire walk in one go in about 3 hours and a half, or if you prefer stop and continue with public transport. The whole Greenway is 10.5 km going through the villages of Colonno, Sala Comacina, Ossuccio, Lenno, Mezzegra, Tremezzo and Griante
