The small town of Mezzegra, formed by the fractions of Azzano, Giulino and Bonzanico, has the particularity not to touch in its territory the bank of the Lake Como. One time this area was famous for the good taste of the bread, nowadays it is famous for the tragic end that Benito Mussolini and Claretta Petacci found, because they were shot in 1945.

WHAT TO VISIT:
Church of Sant'Abbondio
Church of XVI century, tied up to a legend. It seems in fact that the work was built by local characters enriched him with the commerce. Not knowing who of them had entertained the bishop of Como, called for the consecration of the building, they had an imposing proper building to build for this purpose.
You are introduced with an elegant baroque façade placed side by side from a bell tower. In the only aisle of the inside, embellished by the dome by Giulio Quaglio, they are preserved precious cloths of the centuries XVII and XVIII. Close to the parsonage and to the sacristy, they are visible traces of the old Romanesque church that have preceded her in the time. In one of the two attached environments in the church reported plasters to Pietro Silva are preserved and perhaps of the Fiamminghino, in the other, a monumental gilded wooden altar of the century is found XVII-XVIII.
