Dongo - Comomeer

Dongo, Lake Como Dongo is a small village of the North West part of Lake Como, situated at 4,5km away from Gravedona and 12km from Menaggio. Its territory exstends from Sasso di Musso towards the river Albano and carries on up to the hamlet of Bersaglio. The old town centre facing the bay and extending up to the hamlets of Martinico e Barbignano has witnessed many important historic events. In particular Dongo is remembered as being the background to important events at the end of the fascist period. It was here that on 28th April 1945 fascist party officials who had been trying to escape into Switzerland with Mussolini were shot by the partisans after having been captured the day before between Musso and Dongo.
